Today I officially launch the new design for this website, and I have
to say I'm pretty darn proud the result. For far too long I resisted learning
Cascading Style Sheets for layout, but now I've embraced CSS as my preferred
method for building standards compliant websites. I'm far from a guru at
this point, but I'm still learning.
Speaking of standards compliance, this website looks best in the Firefox browser, and some things may look slightly different in Micro$oft's Internet Explorer. You wouldn't believe the hacks and tricks I used to get this site to look decent in IE 6, including a separate CSS style sheet.
I was inspired to create this web makeover after I learned of the CSS Reboot which occurred on May 1st, but I found out about it too late to participate. So, I've spent the past month redesigning C-Eye.net and transferring over the content. I was also inspired by CSSBeauty.com which I intend to submit to soon.
Although I still like my previous layout and graphics for C-Eye.net, I think the new website design is much cleaner, easier to read and navigate. My favorite new feature is the Post-it note that appears at the upper-right of each page. The message will randomly change when you go to a different page or refresh your browser window. If you have a suggestion for a Post-it message, email me.
I'd like to thank CSS Play for the code for the rounded content boxes and w3schools.com for their great CSS tutorials and reference.
